Gentleman,
When Constantine became emperor, Rome had lost its way. The nation of Rome had geographically grown so expansive, and become so inclusive, that the meaning of Rome was beginning to fall into shadow. In the beginning, Rome was made united by its idea. It was the first place in the world where man was considered on what he did. It was, to the best of my understanding, more or less run as a meritocracy. Once the Caesars came to power and the borders expanded, that idea began to break. People considered themselves, Franks or Gauls or Vandals or North Africans or Armenians first, and Roman citizens second. That's perhaps why Constantine looked to religion, namely Christianity, to unite peoples of many tribes and nations under one banner.
What we have here is a failure to communicate.
We are well into this season, so I don't consider stopping now. I'll play this thing out no matter how many men drop. That being said, I'm dwelling on how to improve this thing and make it bear more fruit in a second season.
I enjoy this very much. I hope you do too.
But the Rules must be followed or we have chaos. If you have a beef with a regulation, than make it known. If you want an exemption, make it known... But to simply break the regulations is an act of treason! Yes. It has been said.
Old Hickory, who are you? I can't give you credit, you're late and I don't know who you are!
David, 500 words. It's a mandate, not an option.
THE UNION, IT MUST BE PRESERVED!
All that being said, some of my favorite stories of the season were posted in Week 4. Right on.
Remember, The top 3 rankings players from each division make it to the playoffs. We have three more weeks of regulation... play it hard!
ALSO -- I thought it would be fun to have during the playoffs, a vote for best story of the season. I'll talk more about this next week, but let me know if you have thoughts about that idea.
I believe Old Hickory might actually be Nathan. I could have sworn the name was there when I first read it but I might be wrong.
